Sick Announces New Hire for Safety Applications

SICK, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sensors, safety systems, machine vision, encoders and automatic identification solutions for factory, logistics, and process automation, is pleased to announce the hiring of Chris Soranno as a Safety Application Specialist.

Soranno has more than 15 years of experience in the industrial safeguarding field, including designing machine safety system solutions, performing safeguarding assessments, implementing risk reduction methodologies and contributing to the development of domestic and international safety standards.

“We are pleased to have Chris join the SICK safety team and offer his breadth of safety standards knowledge to our customers,” says Mark Nehrkorn, Manager of Safety Services and Solutions. “Chris’s years of experience and safety standards expertise will be integral to performing risk assessments and ensuring our customers’ machines comply with the latest safety regulations. In this role, Chris will be reviewing customer safety applications and offering recommendations on the best safety solutions.”

Soranno, who graduated from Miami University with a degree in Engineering Physics, began his career as an Application Engineer and most recently worked as a Safety Compliance Manager at Omron Scientific Technologies, Inc. A member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Soranno is a recognized safety expert who has served on several safety standards committees and has spoken at various industry association conferences.
