OEMs and end users who prefer using IEC 61131-3-compliant CoDeSys (controller development software) for programming have another PLC option for basic control operations. Eaton Corp. is now offering is XC100 and XC200 PLCs in North America.

The controllers feature integrated RS232 and CANopen fieldbus interfaces as well as an Ethernet interface and optional integral Web server. Ethernet access provides for communications between controllers and data exchange to high-level control systems. With its CoDeSys programming basis and support for multiple communication options, Eaton says the XC series of controllers is interoperable with devices from multiple vendors.

CoDeSys has a range of features for programming, testing and commissioning that help organize program system documentation, diagnostics, and debugging.

XC controllers can be expanded with compact, high-speed input/output (I/O) modules. Up to 15 XIOC local expansion modules can be connected directly to each controller and are available in a variety of high-density channels, analog, temperature, counter, and communication modules. XC controllers come standard with eight digital inputs and six digital outputs.
