Safety Controller is Easy to Program

Sept. 28, 2017
The c250-S safety controller from Lenze enables engineers to program all of a machine’s safety needs using just one engineering tool based on the PLCopen standard.

Integrating the controller into an automation system makes engineering easier, improves diagnostics, and reduces the number of interfaces and components. This saves time and money, and ultimately increases the machine’s availability and flexibility. It also significantly reduces the need for wiring, thanks to the direct networking of the controllers with ready-made software solutions from the company’s FAST Application Toolbox. The controller mounts easily on a DIN rail, and safety modules are directly stackable with integrated connections and need no extra wiring. Integrating into the system allows projects to be implemented faster because there are no longer differences in the software tools for drive technology and safety. This is particularly beneficial in the implementation of projects where machine operators need to take action within a machine’s danger zone. It also eliminates interface problems and the need to become familiar with tools from different manufacturers. This uniformity also makes it possible, via EtherCAT, to display diagnostic messages in more detail, such as “supply voltage too low” instead of simply “error.” Since more information is available, valuable time can be saved during commissioning or service.
