Dell has redesigned its Rugged Latitude laptops to handle extreme conditions.

Intended for use by manufacturers, military, emergency responders, field engineers, explorers and anyone else who needs a really tough computer, the line has been enhanced with brighter high-definition graphics displays with glove compatible touch capabilities and anti-glare shielding for outside work in the sun. Swappable dual batteries means not having to shut down. 4G/LTE provides high bandwidth connectivity on the go, and in the case of the new 5420 the device is 22% lighter and thinner. All units feature 8th Generation Intel Core Processors and testing per MIL-STD-810G, including transit drop, blowing rain, blowing dust, blowing sand, vibration, functional shock, humidity, salt fog (with rubberized keyboard), altitude, explosive atmosphere, solar radiation, thermal extremes, thermal shock, freeze/thaw, tactical standby to operational. The 5420 has up to 2TB of solid state storage and an operating temperature range of -20 to 140 °F (-29 to 60 °C), while the 5424 and 7424 have up to 4 TB of storage and an operating temperature range of -20 to 145 °F (-29 to 63 °C).
