Emerson has released the new PACSystems RX3i CPS400 Safety Controller, which is designed to enable SIL2 strategies for infrastructure and other emergency shutdown systems while streamlining the creation of SIL2 designs with pre-built, certified blocks and templates that can be integrated with sophisticated automation systems. The PACSystems Safety Controller also features a scalable architecture with 2,000 available I/O points. A 64-megabyte memory and built-in industrial communications protocols, including OPC UA, Ethernet Global Data and Modbus TCP make the RX3i CPS400 controller ready to connect peer-to-peer and with higher level hosts. Its secure-by-design features incorporate Secure Boot and the Trusted Platform Module standard. Available in simplex or redundant controller configurations, the RX3i CPS400 controller can perform all safety data messaging with duplex communications using the black channel principle over EGD.
