PT-500 Submersible Pressure Transducers from Automation Products Group, Inc. are now available with additional output, cabling, cage, vent cap and installation options. The result is highly robust and reliable performance to suit specific application needs in the most challenging environments.
“Submersible pressure transducer users need two things - a sensor that provides reliable performance and enough options to handle application specifics,” says Doug Moore, Inside Sales Manager. “The PT-500 is field-proven technology that delivers on both accounts, and we’ve worked hard to incorporate additional functionality and options to make this a truly superior submersible sensing solution in environments where conventional options simply don’t cut it.”
In addition to a 4-20 mA output, the PT-500 is now available with Modbus, as well as 0-5 VDC and mV/V. This enables users to select the output that fits their need rather than being forced into a choice that may not be ideal. Additionally, a new Hytrel cable option gives users the ability to use a submersible pressure sensor in the most challenging environments such as diesel tanks. With the PT-500, users can also choose between a traditional cage or a patented removable cage that can be reused on a new sensor if the need should arise.
“Anyone who is familiar with submersible pressure transducers knows how challenging it is to keep moisture out of the vent tube. By using a hydrophobic membrane on our new vent cap option, we protect the transducer from condensation with a cap that is smaller than the one on a pen,” explains Moore. “Because this method filters out moisture rather than absorbing it, the vent cap lasts much longer than a desiccant cartridge without maintenance or replacement. In addition, it pops right onto the vent tube and doesn’t require shrink tube to create a seal.”
In particularly nasty environments, gases can enter a typical submersible pressure sensor through the vent tube and quickly destroy it. PT-500 pressure transducers are available in a completely sealed version – and are quickly and easily zeroed at the installed elevation – to solve this problem.
For users who simply want to lower the sensor into the tank, a strain relief can be provided on the back of the sensor. For users who prefer to use conduit to install the sensor, the PT-500 can be configured with a ½ inch NPT male conduit thread on the end of the sensor.
Additionally, the PT-500 is built with highly durable laser welds, includes temperature compensation, comes with a Class 1 division 1 intrinsically safe certification and features integrated lightning protection.
