The ICB Series of proximity sensors are now certified for use in hazardous environments.
June 10, 2013

The sensors are certified as Division: Class I, Div 2, Groups A, B, C, and D. Class I is for hazardous locations with presence of flammable gases or vapors; Division 2 for hazardous atmospheres only present under fault conditions and only for very short periods of time, and Group A, B, C and D for groups of explosive gases (acetylene, hydrogen, ethylene and propane). They are also certified by Zone: Class I for hazardous locations with presence of flammable gases or vapors, Zone 1 for hazardous atmospheres that may be present under normal operation, but only for short periods of time (intermittently); AEx d/Ex d for flameproof devices (AEx d for USA, Ex d for Canada); and IIB+H2 for group of explosive gases (Hydrogen, Ethylene, valid also for group IIA - Propane). There are no new part numbers involved, as the Class I, Div 2 Rating is an enhancement to the existing ICB Series.
