Pepperl+Fuchs: Linear Inductive Sensors

The new PMI40 models offer an alternative to standard cylindrical analog sensors.
May 12, 2014

Especially suited for vertical valve measurements, the sensors offer a 40 mm distance measurement with greater linear range, linearity and accuracy than the alternative. The sensors do not measure changes in distance so the vibration and machine tolerance of the vertical valve do not affect position and accuracy. As a result, they improve the overall accuracy of a machine's processes. The optimal distance from the sensor to the standard sensor target is 2 mm, but an available sensing range of 0.5 to 3 mm delivers accurate linear position regardless of the sensing range. The 40 mm linear distance delivers 33 µm resolution. The unit's shorter housing enables it to be applied where models with longer housings are unsuitable.
