Vortex Flowmeter

June 30, 2017
The digitally based Sitrans FX330 Vortex flowmeter from Siemens is suitable for HVAC and auxiliary systems and is versatile enough for use in many process applications.

The instrument combines flow, pressure and temperature monitoring into one two-wire device, providing accurate standard volumetric and mass flow measurement of steam, gases and liquids as an "all-in-one solution" with integrated temperature and pressure compensation. This allows for detection over a wide range of process values all in one unit, including volume flow, mass flow, standard volume flow, density, temperature, pressure and heat energy. The unit meets IEC 61508 SIL 2 safety standards, and is suitable for use in hazardous areas. Its integrated reduction of nominal diameter permits a large turndown ratio, reducing installation cost, while redundant data management allows exchange of electronics without loss of calibration/configuration data. The ability to do gross and net heat calculation supports advanced energy management. Units are also now available with remote mount transmitters, which allows for the placement of remote mounted Vortex sensors into higher temperature applications with temperatures as high as 464 ºF (240 ºC). They are suggested for use in a broad range of industries including Chemical, HVAC, Food and Beverage, Oil & Gas and Water and Wastewater.
