ACS Motion Control: PC-Based Motion Controller

This software-based control platform eliminates dedicated motion control hardware.
March 22, 2012

The SPiiPlusSC enables a PC to run a 64-axis real-time motion controller and high-speed PLC entirely in software. It automatically installs its own real-time operating system and converts a standard Ethernet port into the EtherCAT master communication channel to manage all machine drives and I/O. This simplifies the connectivity of the entire motion control system by eliminating dedicated controller hardware as well as Windows dependence or latency. Suggested applications include SMT assembly systems, semiconductor manufacturing and inspection equipment, FPD manufacturing and inspection, solar panel manufacturing and more. Features include up to 64 fully synchronized axes, thousands of I/O points, high-speed host-controller communication over shared RAM and virtual TCP/IP, programming in both PLCOpen IEC61131-3 languages and by ACSPL+ multi-tasking motion language, with a full API for Windows based host programming, and open architecture with support for the company's and other vendors’ qualified EtherCAT components.
