Varioface Professional (VIP) Systems Cabling Line

Feb. 5, 2010
Phoenix Contact expands its VARIOFACE Professional (VIP) systems cabling line with a robust overmolded front adapter/cable system for the Siemens SIMATIC® S7-300.

Like any systems cabling solution, this cabling system dramatically reduces installation time and virtually eliminates wiring errors.

The unique characteristic of this cabling system is the polymer overmolding surrounding each end of the cable. A completely encapsulated plug-in adapter connects to the Simatic S7-300 I/O card, providing a firm, secure connection. Meanwhile, on the other end, the standard ribbon cable connector that mates with a corresponding interface module is also overmolded. Together the overmolded ends provide maximum strain relief and optimal protection.

The single-piece construction makes installation easy and efficient. To transmit signals from the S7-300 to the field, just plug in both ends of the cable. With only two points of connection, there are fewer points of possible failure, and a more secure signal transmission is achieved. Additionally, the single-piece construction creates fewer parts to order and maintain.

The overmolded front adapter/cable system for Siemens SIMATIC S7-300 is compatible with Phoenix Contact's existing VIP interface modules. The VIP line includes two versions of the Siemens SIMATIC S7-300 cabling system for 32-channel I/O cards, and a separate solution for 16-channel I/O cards.
