Frost & Sullivan Excellence Award Winners Named

At a formal reception and awards dinner held April 26 in Orlando, Fla., Frost & Sullivan (www.frost.com) recognized its 2006 Excellence in Industrial Technologies Award winners.

A total of 52 companies and one executive—Jay McLellan, chief executive officer for Home Automation Inc.—were honored as leaders in categories that include company of the year, business development, competitive strategy, customer service, emerging technologies, growth strategy, entrepreneurship, and product, industry and technology innovation.

This is the sixth year that Frost & Sullivan, a global research and consulting services organization headquartered in San Antonio, Tex., has named its Excellence awards winners. Says Sandeep Maheshwari, vice president of the Industrial Automation and Electronics Group for Frost & Sullivan, “The awards are in recognition of the outstanding work done and best practices adopted by industrial automation and electronics companies. Since our analysts are researching and continuously monitoring these markets, and are securing feedback from industry participants and customers, these awards take on a completely different meaning for award recipients.”

Among the winners are several leading automation solutions providers, including three honored as “Company of the Year” award recipients. Emerson Process Management (www.emersonprocess.com), Austin, Texas, was named Industrial Automation and Process Control Company of the Year. UGS Corp. (www.ugs.com), based in Plano, Texas, received the Product Lifecycle Management Solutions Company of the Year award. And Wonderware (www.wonderware.com), Lake Forest, Calif., a three-time Frost & Sullivan award winner, was named the Human-Machine Interface and Manufacturing Software Solutions Company of the Year.

Other automation suppliers recognized are Activplant Corp. (www.activplant.com), of London, Ont., Canada, named Manufacturing Intelligence Enabling Technology of the Year for its Performance Management System. Phoenix-based Honeywell Process Solutions (www.honeywell.com) was recognized for Industrial Automation and Process Control Product Innovation Leadership for its Experion solutions. And, Pavilion Technologies (www.pavtech.com), based in Austin, Texas, was awarded the Advanced Process Control Solutions Emerging Company of the Year, for the success of its Pavilion8 solution.

Maheshwari notes, “The awards are based on customer feedback, which is a true testimony to the best practices and top-notch achievement by corporations around the globe. The winning companies reflect the highly set standards in industry, for which their competitors must strive.”
