M2M Rugged Devices Certified Compatible with 4G LTE Network

Dec. 7, 2012
Red Lion Controls, maker of communication, monitoring and control equipment for industrial automation and networking, announced the availability of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) support for its Sixnet IndustrialPro 6000 series of industrial cellular routers in North America.

Effective immediately, the IndustrialPro 6000 routers are the first M2M rugged devices certified by and compatible with the Bell Mobility 4G LTE network, according to Mahesh Patel, director of wireless product management at Red Lion Controls.

LTE is ideal for organizations of all sizes that require increased data speeds when using cellular technology for primary or backup WAN connectivity. With data rates up to 100 times faster than 2G and 3G technology, LTE is well suited for remote offices, video surveillance and remote automation environments.

“With more organizations using wireless technologies to monitor and control critical operations in remote locations, LTE support gives customers the advantage of speeds that rival wired broadband connections,” said Patel. “While our products still offer flexible backwards compatibility to 3G networks, the addition of LTE not only delivers significant performance improvements, but also offers 10 times lower latency than earlier technologies. Increased speeds are essential for streaming video and remote applications where high latency or jitter is simply not acceptable.”

IndustrialPro routers are suited for harsh industrial environments such as oil & gas, power & energy and water & wastewater applications where space may be limited and wired connectivity not feasible.

Red Lion is a Spectris company with headquarters in York, Pa. offices across the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe.
