The unit provides users with simple integration that will natively speak to a PLC through the EtherNet/IP connection and eliminates the need to purchase a converter from a third party provider to add wireless to a system. It also provides enhanced security features for industrial automation and control systems. These security features are designed to IEC 62443 (ISA99) standards and are intended to fully comply with NERC CIP requirements. The new customized user account feature allows a manager to easily set-up and configure gateway access privileges for various members of an operation. The optional OPC functionality offers a means to connect to newer systems and applications while providing a richer set of data. Additional devices can be added at anytime. There is no need to configure communication paths because the gateway manages the network automatically. This feature also ensures that WirelessHART field devices have the most reliable path to send data.
