Rockwell Automation: Wireless Access Point for EtherNet/IP

June 16, 2014
Stratix 5100 wireless access point connects up to 19 industrial network IP addresses.

To make accessing critical production data easier within the manufacturing enterprise, the Allen-Bradley Stratix 5100 wireless access point (WAP) includes a work group bridge. The product complements the Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix EtherNet/IP communication modules and portfolio of Stratix switches from Rockwell Automation. Unlike other wireless clients that only connect a single IP address, the unit enables engineers to connect up to 19 IP addresses simultaneously.

The WAP uses “enterprise-class silicon and optimized radios” to deliver a mobility experience that includes 802.11a/b/g/n with 3 by 4 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology and three spatial streams. It uses the Cisco IOS for performance and configuration options, and works with the Rockwell Automation Integrated Architecture system to provide detailed network diagnostic information.
