The first stainless steel robot to be installed in North America is being used for dairy case packing in a Dean Foods’ dairy product manufacturing plant, according to Kuka Robotics Corp.

(www.kukarobotics.com), the robot supplier, with North American headquarters in Clinton Township, Mich. The Kuka KR 15 SL stainless steel robot was installed by Kuka system partner Forte Automation Systems (www.forteautomation.com), Rockford, Ill. Stainless steel is the optimum material to meet the stringent sterility requirements found in food manufacturing, Kuka says.
