Electric car manufacturer extends Apriso deployment with FlexNet Manufacturing Process Intelligence to streamline continuous process improvement.

Apriso (www.apriso.com), a provider of manufacturing software solutions, announced February 23 that Tesla Motors is implementing the company’s FlexNet Manufacturing Process Intelligence (MPI) as an operational intelligence and analytics solution to complement its existing FlexNet Manufacturing Execution System (MES). Real-time visibility to manufacturing performance combined with comprehensive operational intelligence data enables greater production efficiency and cost effective, expanded continuous process improvement.

Tesla’s goal is to accelerate the world’s transition to electric mobility with a full range of increasingly affordable electric cars. Accordingly, its manufacturing operations must support this vision by remaining highly agile and advanced. In September 2010, Apriso announced Tesla Motors’ decision to implement FlexNet as its platform for manufacturing operations.
“Tesla Motors delivers exceptionally well-designed and engineered products. Apriso’s Manufacturing Process Intelligence solution can help ensure the highest quality in Model S,” said Gilbert Passin, Tesla vice president of manufacturing. “One of the benefits of a platform-based approach to manufacturing operations is the ease of adding new or updated capabilities. MPI can provide Tesla Motors with real-time visibility into manufacturing performance to immediately contain costs and identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.”

“We are delighted to expand our partnership with Tesla Motors by putting in place Apriso’s highly sophisticated intelligence and analytics solution. Real-time visibility into operational performance translates into competitive advantage in the rapidly evolving zero-emission EV automotive segment,” said Fred Thomas, Industry Director for Automotive and Cleantech at Apriso.
