Partnership Makes Liquid Hydrocarbon Measurement Easier

Support for the Flow-Cal CFX file format has been added to Emerson Process Management’s ROC800L Flow Computer to better automate the complex process of batch and ticket processing.

Emerson Process Management has enhanced its ROC800L Flow Computer by better integrating it with Flow-Cal’s Enterprise Liquids measurement system. The Flow-Cal CFX file format—a secure, binary format that ensures measurement data cannot be changed or manipulated—is now generated within the ROC800L.

Flowcal Enterprise Liquids automates the process of batch and ticket processing. Generating the file format within the Emerson flow computer simplifies the process of an operator using Flow-Cal’s application to validate, edit and report the data provided by the ROC800L. It also offers an additional level of data security, says Craig Llewellyn, president of Emerson Process Management’s Remote Automation Solutions division.

The version 7 CFX file format allows for the import of liquid data into the Flowcal Enterprise Liquids measurement application, which manages hourly, daily, and/or batch data while maintaining an audit trail that meets the API Chapter 21.2 guidelines. Data generated from the CFX file includes flow information, CTL and CPL, meter configuration and analysis.

The ROC800L can control liquid handling for a variety of liquid hydrocarbons, including crude oil, refined products, special application products, lubricating oils and light hydrocarbons.
