Allied Electronics, a trading brand of Electrocomponents plc, announced two new vice presidents to its executive management team (EMT) – Vice President of Product Management Frank Cantwell and Vice President of Marketing Dan Stewart. Both Cantwell and Stewart were promoted from within the organization after recent leadership changes.

Cantwell began his career at Allied as a product manager in 2000 and was quickly promoted to product marketing manager in 2001, where he served until he was promoted to product director in 2006. In his tenure as product director, his teams have grown their portfolios from $120 million to more than $270 million. As vice president of product management, he will be responsible for both the product management and content teams.

“The future of Allied’s success comes from our supplier relationships and how we connect our customers to their innovations,” says Cantwell. “This is an exciting time for Allied, and I look forward to working with our suppliers as we capitalize on the opportunities in the market together.”

Stewart began his career at Allied in 2004 in the e-commerce department. He was promoted to director of e-commerce in 2007. Under Stewart’s leadership, the company’s online business has grown from $12 million to more than $150 million. As vice president of marketing, Dan will be responsible for both the e-commerce and marketing teams.

“As I look forward to Allied’s future, I’m excited about helping us become a $1+ billion business in North America,” comments Stewart. “We have a great team of people at Allied, and I want to help build an organization with a culture that embraces creativity, where employees have a sense of adventure about their work and arrive each day with a sense of optimism that great things are about to happen.”

The promotions of Cantwell and Stewart, coinciding with Allied’s new fiscal year, resulted from the recent transition of Scott McLendon from vice president of product management and marketing to president. McLendon assumed the presidential role after Lee Davidson stepped down in January 2013 due to health issues.

“I’m excited about Frank and Dan joining Allied’s Executive Management Team,” says McLendon. “They have great track records and bring with them skill sets that will help Allied continue to deliver great customer experiences.”
