GE’s Mark VIeS Safety Management System Receives exida 2014 Safety Award

GE’s Intelligent Platforms business (NYSE: GE) announced that its exida certified Mark VIeS Safety Management System received the exida 2014 Safety Award in the Logic Solver category.

GE’s Intelligent Platforms business (NYSE: GE)announced that its exida certified Mark VIeS Safety Management System received the exida 2014 Safety Award in the Logic Solver category. The announcement is being made in conjunction with the company’s User Summit: Making the Industrial Internet Real, being held this week in Orlando, Florida.

exida, the global leader in functional safety and cybersecurity certification for the process industries, presented awards in three categories: Sensor, Logic Solver, and Interface Module. Founded in 1999 and with offices around the world, exida is a key player in testing and assessing automation safety products. The agency is a leading certification body and serves on the international committees that write safety standards. exida is in a unique position to review safety products from many different manufacturers. The safety award gives the agency an opportunity to recognize products that stand out in meeting functional safety standards.

The Mark VIeS system is a complete, flexible, and reliable engineered process safety system with enhanced cyber security for critical processes such as plant emergency shutdown, burner management, critical process control, fire and gas detection, and turbo machinery safety. Part of the Mark VIe family of integrated control and power conversion solutions, Mark VIeS boasts SIL3 fault-tolerance, Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) and an end-to-end architecture that optimizes assets and operations as well as reduces costs.

The Mark VIeS was developed to provide turbo machinery safety in a box, building on GE’s industrial heritage, the shared IO network between the Mark VIe DCS and Mark VIeS Safety Instrumented System, and effortless black channel communications—helping the customers meet emerging safety requirements. These diverse product functions and features help Oil & Gas, Power Generation and other process industry customers meet existing and emerging functional safety requirements.
