Weidmuller announces that its “u-remote” distributed I/O platform meets the requirements for use in the demanding maritime and offshore sectors. u-remote has received certification from several classification agencies including DNV GL (formerly Det Norske Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd), BV (Bureau Veritas), LR (Lloyds Register), and RINA (Registro Italiano Navale). This certification applies to most areas on a ship, including the ship’s bridge. Weidmuller’s u-remote offers the ability to improve the reliability and efficiency of ship and offshore automation applications.
u-remote is a highly integrated, user-friendly I/O platform that combines a high level of performance with optimum system handling. Its robust design is suited to the sensitive and harsh environmental conditions found in maritime and offshore applications. u-remote I/O features a wide operating temperature range of -20°C to 60°C, and can withstand high levels of humidity (up to 100%), intense vibration (up to 4 g) and high-energy electromagnetic fields, without emitting high levels of radiation that could affect other devices.
u-remote is an advanced IP20 platform that’s built to ensure faster installation and setup, and designed to improve automation performance and productivity. At only 11.5mm wide per I/O slice, its slim design with high-channel density makes it one of the most feature-rich distributed I/O platforms available. Using Weidmuller’s leading edge Push-In wire technology, each point is clearly visible with LED status indication. The card slices are hot-swappable and can be installed, updated and removed without the need for any tools.
An integrated web server helps speed up installation and provides real time network access to the 64 I/O slices/cards connected to a single field bus coupler. The field bus couplers include ProfiNet, EtherCat, Modbus TCP, Ethernet TCP/IP and many more for seamless integration into existing plant/machine networks. The high-speed system bus provides impressive electronic performance and works with as many as 256 DI/DOs in just 20 μs.
Weidmuller supports customers and partners around the world with products, solutions and services in the industrial environment of power, signal and data. The company develops innovative, sustainable and useful solutions that set standards in Industrial Connectivity today and continually work toward providing solutions for the technology challenges of tomorrow. The Weidmuller Group owns manufacturing plants, sales companies and representatives in more than 80 countries.
