    A real-world example is creating a precise 3D image of a brake pad to determine surface defects on low contrast parts. The displacement sensor inspects and measures in 3D, with measurements of volume, height, tilt, and optical character recognition (OCR). The calibrated 3D system reports results in real-world units (mm) down to the micron.
