Matrox Imaging today announced a new entry-level Matrox 4Sight GPm industrial imaging computer purpose-built for machine vision on the factory floor.

Matrox Imaging today announced a new entry-level Matrox 4Sight GPm industrial imaging computer purpose-built for machine vision on the factory floor. The lower cost unit is based on an Intel® Celeron J1900 processor and boasts a fanless design that reduces maintenance costs and downtime. The system is equipped with three Gigabit Ethernet ports and a SuperSpeed USB port for connecting to the full range of available GigE Vision® and USB3 Vision cameras. Two of the Gigabit Ethernet ports support Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) to streamline cabling.

The new Matrox 4Sight GPm model is available bundled with Matrox Design Assistant 4 (DA 4) vision software, the first hardware-independent integrated development environment (IDE) that lets system integrators, machine builders and line integrators easily create an application flowchart and HMI and take projects from concept to completion in record time, without the need for conventional programming. Alternatively, applications can be created using standard Microsoft® development tools and Matrox Imaging Library (MIL), a comprehensive collection of tools for developing machine vision and medical imaging applications. MIL features programming functions for image capture, processing, analysis, annotation, display and archiving.

“Customers are always looking to reduce costs,” said Fabio Perelli, product manager at Matrox. “With the new Matrox 4Sight GPm based on ‘Bay Trail’, and Matrox DA 4 , they now have lower cost hardware and an easy-to-use development environment that doesn’t require costly traditional programming resources — the perfect alternative to more expensive smart camera-based machine vision solutions.”

New Matrox 4Sight GPm development units will be available in October pre-loaded with Microsoft® Windows Embedded Standard 7 and either the full Matrox Design Assistant 4 environment or just the MIL 10 run-time environment.
