Industrial Unmanaged Ethernet Switches

Jan. 24, 2011
Murrelektronik has expanded its product offerings with the new MES line of industrial unmanaged Ethernet switches.

As the first two products in the family, the MESP and MESM offer six and eight ports, respectively. Created to maintain reliable performance in rugged industrial environments, the MES line complies with UL,CE, FCC, and RoHS standards. During normal use, MES forwards broadcast packets to all ports except the source port. In the event that the number of packets received exceeds a threshold within a preset period of time, the switch automatically discardsbroadcast or multicast packets to offer protection from overload. Upon expiration of the preset period of time, which is approximately 800 ms, reception of broadcast or multicast packets resumes.

MES provides redundant DC power inputs to ensure continual operation if one power source fails. Both the MESP and MESM feature 10/100BaseT(X) (RJ45) connectors and support IEEE 802.3/802.3u/802.3x. The products offer broadcast storm protection, utilize rugged, high-strength housing and operate reliably in temperature ranges from 14° F to 158° F. MES can be mounted to a wall or DIN rail.

"Murrelektronik is constantly looking for ways to more fully meet customers' needs," says Aaron Henry, Marketing Manager at Murrelektronik. "In recent years, demand has grown for Ethernet switches that provide reliability, even in harsh industrial environments. Through introduction of the MES line, we present customers with an even more comprehensive array of solutions."
