The vendor’s PlantWeb digital plant architecture has been enhanced with the release of DeltaV Version 7.4. This release adds a new engineering productivity tool with integration of the INtools instrument design software v6.0 from Intergraph Corp., which shares common data structures and seamlessly exchanges data with Version 7.4 using XML and Microsoft .Net technology.
This enables re-use of instrumentation information during instrumentation design, reducing engineering effort and speeding up project execution. Also new with Version 7.4, the number of Virtual Communications Relationships among Foundation fieldbus devices has been increased to 50, significantly boosting communication power for customers. Other Version 7.4 enhancements to DeltaV operations software permit faster access to Foundation fieldbus parameters, enabling AMS Suite: Intelligent Device Manager diagnostic screens to populate data much faster. This reduces commissioning and troubleshooting time for fieldbus devices. A new embedded DeltaV Continuous Historian has also been added with Version 7.4 to store the wealth of information that is available in intelligent field devices. The status of a parameter that has been configured for history collection is automatically stored along with its value, allowing users to make better decisions in controlling their processes.
