Suited for networks with large amounts of data in application using
VLANs or multicast routing strategies, the new switch is a data horse
that can meet the demands of, say, a smart grid substation network. The
product meets IEC 61850 and RoHS compliancy and can be used in high
electromagnetic interference (EMI) environments. The switch offers
built-in small form-factor pluggable (SFP) ports, providing a choice of
fixed 10/100/100 BASE-TX connectivity or fiber SFPs, and has a
temperature rating of -40 deg C to 85 deg C.
"Our relationship with Belden has enabled us to step up the pace of
technology deliverables as we target the increasingly sophisticated and
challenging network applications resulting from the explosion of
IP-enabled industrial devices, says Lee House, GarrettCom, general
manager.
Other features include a non-blocking switching fabric to provide
wire-speed performance on all ports, has an option to configure four
ports for Power over Ethernet (POE), uses sealed-box convection cooling
and has optional single or dual internal power supplies. Also, the
switch can be synchronized via SNTP or IEEE 1588 v2 precision timing,
the latter provides accuracy within 30 ns on all ports. Â GarrettCom, Inc.
