PAS, the global leader for high performance operator graphics, industrial control system cyber security, and alarm management, and Alstom, a global leader in power generation, power transmission and rail infrastructure, announced a strategic licensing agreement that enables Alstom to deliver PAS’ PowerGraphiX to its customers worldwide.
PowerGraphiX greatly improves an operator’s ability to effectively manage a power generation unit and mitigate abnormal situations.  It uses advanced data visualization techniques and field proven pattern recognition objects to make sense of the thousands of data points required to operate a unit.  It brings consistency and simplifies the design, development, and maintenance of operator graphical interfaces.
“We are delighted about our partnership with Alstom to deliver best in class power plant operator graphics with PowerGraphiX,” said Mark Carrigan, PAS’ Vice President of Technology.  “PowerGraphiX transforms the way operators visualize information and respond to abnormal situations.”
PowerGraphiX includes templates, object libraries, and best practices guidelines for the design and implementation of power plant operator interfaces.  Companies choosing to implement PowerGraphiX can expect significant return on investment by reducing unplanned outages.  Additionally, they will vastly reduce the lifecycle cost of developing and maintaining operator graphics.
“We conducted in-depth interviews with a large cross section of power plant operators and maintenance teams and there was overwhelming consensus that control room operations need to be simplified to enhance efficiency and reliability and to reduce human error,” said Steve Meszaros, Senior Vice President, Alstom Gas Business.  “This partnership combines Alstom’s global leadership in power plant design, operation and maintenance with PAS’s proven HMI software and graphics platform.”
