Softing Industrial has released the 5069-SDN, a DeviceNet communication module designed for in-chassis installation in Rockwell Automation’s current 5380 controller platform. Officially named the compactLink HW-DN, the 5069-SDN enables Rockwell Automation users to migrate from legacy Allen-Bradley PLCs, such as the PLC-5, SLC-500 and 1769 CompactLogix, to the 5380 platform while maintaining connectivity with existing DeviceNet devices. The compactLink HW-DN provides control, configuration and data exchange between 5380 controllers and DeviceNet devices, offering a streamlined upgrade path for DeviceNet-based systems. This module supports the same message and data types as the legacy 1769-SDN and includes AutoScan functionality to reduce manual configuration time. It supports up to 63 DeviceNet nodes, making it well-suited for small to mid-sized installations. Its in-chassis form factor minimizes the need for additional wiring or DIN rail space, simplifying panel layouts and reducing installation time.
