B&B Electronics Manufacturing: Ethernet Extender in PoE, Managed Models
Feb. 8, 2012
Family of industrial-grade Elinx Ethernet Extenders has been extended with models featuring built-in Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) and network management (called “managed”) capabilities.
Using existing copper wire infrastructure (Cat5 cable or two straight wires from the telephone line), the extenders let users deploy remote security cameras, IP phones and other Ethernet devices beyond Ethernet’s 100-meter (328 ft.) limit. The PoE+ models overcome the challenge of powering remote devices by providing power directly from the extended Ethernet port. The three PoE+ 10/100 Mbps models extend Ethernet connections up to 1,900 meters (6,248 ft) and power remote devices directly. Two two managed models extend connections similar distances while allowing IT and network engineers to monitor remote communications via a Web browser and SNMP. The company’s existing unmanaged line features a new, long-range SHDSL Ethernet extender for 10/100 networks.
