Weidmuller: Fiber to Ethernet Converters

A new line of media converters for industrial applications features real-time compatibility for reliable and robust data exchange between copper and fiber optic media.
Feb. 9, 2012

The converters integrate glass fibers into a network while remaining transparent to other network devices, converting the Ethernet, via an RJ45 port, to an optical port with SC or ST glass fiber connections. Link Fault Pass-Through (LFP) technology employs mechanical relay outputs to alarm on power failure and port breakages on either fiber or Ethernet ports. This LFP feature retains the collision domain between the two Ethernet participants, resulting in a status transparency between the two Ethernet interfaces.  Redundant power inputs allow for more secure connections. Approvals include cULus, GL for marine applications and Hazardous area approvals including ATEX and cULus Class 1 Zone 2.
