SMAC’s new LPL80 line of electric linear moving coil actuators were designed for filling machines and come in the standard 80mm size. The actuators use a dc linear servo motor, replace air cylinders and are programmable for control of speed and position. The LPL series actuators have a peak force of 170 newton and come with a standard 25 mm stroke. Other stroke lengths are available. The LPL80 also features SMAC’s “soft-land” capability (which allows the actuator rod or gripper jaw to land on the surface of a component with a low programmed force). Additionally, the actuators have a peak cycle rate of 2,400 cycles per minute and last longer than 100 million cycles. The LPL80 is waterproof with an IP67 rating. IP69 versions are also available.
