Battery Simplifies Door/Gate Sensing

Jan. 10, 2010
The PD180 is a long-range, through-beam photoelectric sensor for industrial doors and gates that features a battery-powered emitter.
This makes installation quick and easy, because there is no need to bury cables or run additional conduit around door openings, says the vendor. The sensor can be powered for up to 2.5 years on a pair of 3.6V lithium batteries. Sensing range is user-selectable at 15 or 30 meters. The sensor’s receiver can be powered by 12-24VAC/DC. The PD180 contains a SPST relay output for normal door/gate operation, and a separate SPST output for low-battery alert. Mechanical alignments are said to be flexible and simple, thanks to lenses that can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally. An emitter-mute function allows the sensor to verify proper function before every operating cycle. List price for a complete set (emitter and receiver) is $138.Carlo Gavazzi Inc.www.gavazzionline.com847.465.6100
