Matrox Imaging announced a major update to its core vision software product, Matrox Imaging Library (MIL). MIL 10 Processing Pack 1 will give users even more ready-made tools to solve 2D and 3D vision challenges from within the familiar and proven MIL API along with numerous productivity enhancements that will reduce the development time and effort required to bring solutions to market.

Enhancements for 3D vision include calibration of multiple sheet-of-light and camera systems to work as one; a new, more robust peak detection algorithm and a new 3D surface registration tool. Enhancements for 2D vision include additional image pre-processing, additions to the ID mark reading and verification tools, new color-relative calibration, a new dedicated circle matcher and additional speed optimizations including the use of Intel® AVX2 technology. Productivity enhancements include intelligent code completion and context-sensitive help in Visual Studio®, C#/Python/Visual Basic® scripting and execution and an overhauled Example Launcher utility.

“This rich update to MIL underscores our commitment to continually offer machine vision programmers innovative ways to simplify and accelerate application development,” said Pierantonio Boriero, product line manager, Matrox Imaging. “Our highly-skilled team of computer scientists, mathematicians, software engineers and physicists works tirelessly to foresee and meet industry needs.”
