Expanding its line of Melsec iQ-F series of compact controllers, Mitsubishi Electric has released the FX5S, a compact controller for small machines with up to 60 I/O and integrated Ethernet connectivity. Features of the FX5S PLC include a built-in webserver for connection to customized web pages and CC-Link IE network capability for communication to HMIs, variable frequency drives, servo motors and remote I/O. The FX5S is a more basic version of the iQ-F series, and thus more affordable. It is programmed in the same GX Works3 software environment as other iQ-F series compact PLCs.
