Wieland Electric Inc. has expanded its proven wietap overvoltage protection modules designed for North American applications.

Wieland Electric Inc. has expanded its proven wietap overvoltage protection modules designed for North American applications. The wietap surge arrester modules for control cabinet main power supply protection (IEC Class II, Category B) include modules rated for 150V, 275V, 320V, 385V, 440V and 600V; as well as modules for sub-distribution (IEC Class III, Category A) rated for 30V and 150V. Surge protection modules for photovoltaic systems are also available in 600Vdc and 1000Vdc versions and for grounded and ungrounded systems.

“These wietap Series overvoltage protection modules provide a compact and reliable means of protecting main power distribution panels as well as individual machines and other devices,” said Martin Lalonde, Application Engineer at Wieland Electric. “The surge protection portion of the module is designed for easy plug-in and removal, and has status indication relays. An indicator flag on the front of the device provides visual indication of the operating status or fault condition at a glance.”

These high quality modules provide a high discharge capacity by using an efficient zinc oxide varistor and discharger combination. They are also vibration- and shock-tested according to EN 60068-2. Wieland’s wietap Series surge arresters are suitable for operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, are cURus certified, and comply with UL1449 3rd edition.
