Plex Systems Inc., maker of cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for manufacturers, has made improvements to the process of designing and creating custom barcode labels using its Plex Online software.

Unique labels enable manufacturers to leverage barcoding to streamline and improve material control, inventory management, and shipping processes. Labels vary depending on the nature of the material and the manufacturing process. Parts suppliers often are required to label products according to standards published by various industry organizations, which vary based on the industry. Consequently, there is an evolving need for more label formats as the marketplace expands.

More than a million physical labels are printed on a daily basis by Plex Online users. The printing of labels that are developed using the newly integrated Label Designer is an impressive 600 times more efficient than the previous method of generating labels.

“It’s difficult to overstate the importance of this announcement,” said Plex Systems Vice President of Strategy Jim Shepherd. “Label design has contributed to helping manufacturers consistently improve efficiency and drive unnecessary steps out of the manufacturing process. Plex Online’s new label designing functionality is a leap forward and a significant improvement that Plex Online users will embrace enthusiastically.”
