Baumer Enters Brazilian Market

June 24, 2010
Swiss-based Baumer Group, a manufacturer of sensors, has opened a subsidiary in Brazil.

The Swiss-based Baumer Group (www.baumer.com), an international manufacturer of sensors and sensor solutions, announced in May its entrance in the Brazilian market with the wholly owned subsidiary Baumer do Brasil Ltda. The company was founded at the end of 2009 and began its business operations in the first quarter of this year. The Brazilian headquarters is located in São Paulo. Baumer do Brasil now represents three of the Baumer Group’s five product segments: Sensor Solutions, Motion Control and Process Instrumentation.

The Baumer Group is a global supplier of sensor products for factory and process automation and employs approximately 2,000 personnel in 35 locations and 18 countries. With its five product segments—Sensor Solutions, Motion Control, Vision Technologies, Process Instrumentation and Gluing Systems—the group offers a range of automation solutions from ultrasonic, photoelectric or inductive sensors to incremental and absolute encoders, fieldbus covers and heavy duty encoders, as well as temperature, pressure and level measurement devices. Further, industrial cameras, smart vision sensors and optical inspection systems, as well as glue application guns, smelters and quality assurance sensors add to the broad range of services and the Baumer Group’s representation in varied industry sectors.

In announcing its Brazilian presence, Baumer noted that internationalization is an important ingredient in its strategy for growth. The strategy is to better serve regional markets with suitable products and services while also offering customer-specific solutions. This provides distinct advantages in cost and performance and a close working relationship with users, the company said. Customers profit through worldwide consultation, service and quality standards, as well as shorter delivery times, according to the company. Baumer said the decision to locate in Brazil is a recognition of the country as a key element in the competitive and rapidly growing market of Latin America.About the authorSílvia Pereira, [email protected], is a freelance journalist based in Brazil.Baumer Groupwww.baumer.com
